Brothers and Sisters giving a helping hand when unforeseen hardships affect a member or their family. That is what the Voluntary Fund is all about. The Voluntary Fund was established in 1967 and obtained 501(c)(3) status to become an official charitable organization in 2001. The Voluntary Fund’s primary purpose is to provide financial assistance to members facing unforeseen hardships (injury, illness, natural disaster, etc.) and to provide educational assistance via scholarships to members and their families seeking higher education. Contributions to the Voluntary Fund are purely voluntary, tax deductible, and deeply appreciated. Every year, every day, your contributions to our Voluntary Fund make a difference in so many ways and in so many lives.
How can I contribute?
You can make contributions through your Job Steward while working. The Job Steward will collect donations weekly from those who wish to contribute and submit them to the Voluntary Fund for processing. Your Job Steward will be responsible for making sure your contribution is processed properly. Members and non-members who are not working but wish to contribute can do so by sending a check or money order made payable to Pipeliners Voluntary Fund to the Local 798 office, PO Box 470798, Tulsa, OK 74147. You may also donate through the website by visiting the online shop.
Before making your first donation, you must complete a Voluntary Contribution Agreement card that must be signed by a “witness” other than yourself. To accept your contribution, we must have a copy of the card on file. Click here to download a card.
Voluntary Fund Requests
In order to receive help from the Voluntary Fund, a written request must be received in the office from a Local 798 member. Only active members of Local 798 may submit a Voluntary Fund request, but you may not request Voluntary Fund assistance for yourself. The request must include:
- The first and last name and book number of the member submitting the request.
- The first and last name of the individual to receive the assistance, their book number, or last four digits of their social security number or any other identifying information.
- A detailed explanation of the circumstances for which Voluntary Fund assistance is being requested.
- A mailing address and phone number if the request is for a non-member.
Requests can be mailed to the Voluntary Fund at PO Box 470798 Tulsa, OK 74147, or emailed to vfletters@local798.org, or you can complete the Voluntary Fund Assistance Request Form below to submit your request online.
