Apply for Membership

Thank you for your interest in joining Pipeliners Local Union 798. We provide the highest quality pipeline Welders, Helpers, and Journeyman to contractors across the country to weld the various sections of oil and gas pipelines.

We are currently accepting new applications for membership. To begin the process, please complete the pre-qualifying application. After submitting the application, you will be directed to complete an assessment. Once your application has been reviewed by the 798 team, you will be notified to schedule an interview. Please note there is a $25.00 non-refundable application fee.

Before starting your application, please have the following documents ready to upload (if applicable):

• High School Diploma or GED (Required)
• Valid Driver’s License
• Recent Pay Stubs (If claiming non-union experience)
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certificate
• Negative DOT Drug Screen (must be within the last 30 days)
• Military Service Documentation (DD214 or equivalent)
• Trade School Certificate

When a job goes unfilled on our job line, the local will review the applications on file to determine who is most qualified, the selected applicant(s) will be notified regarding job placement and where to go to be hired out on the job. After working the required hours – 160 hours for Helpers, or 80 hours for Welders, you must request an Application Request Form from your Job Steward. The form must be signed by both the Job Steward and the Welder Foreman. It is your responsibility to return the completed form to our office.

Once the Application Request Form is received, we will send you the U.A. Application for membership. You will have 45 days to return the completed application along with the required initiation fee.

Initiation Fees:

• Helper: $1,231 ($1,200 initiation fee + $31 first month’s dues)
• Welder: $2,031 ($2,000 initiation fee + $31 first month’s dues)
