Chartered in 1949 Pipeliners 798 is a trade union that provides the highest quality of pipeline welders to contractors across the country. Pipeliners 798 is made up of people with a high level of skill who weld together the various sections of oil and gas pipelines.
In addition to the 2700 skilled welders that are a part of Pipeliners 798, we also represent more than 500 Journeymen who assist in lining up the pipe and complete the hydrostatic testing of the pipeline, and over 3,000 helpers who assist the welders in the weld completion process. These tasks are critical to the integrity of the pipeline and the safety surrounding the project.
As a trade union, our workers are required to meet the highest level of welder training and take great pride in the quality and safety of their work. Pipeliners 798 welders have worked on projects in 49 states and across the globe.
Our success is built on four key principles: Quality, Safety, Environmental/Community Stewardship and Worker Protection.
Quality
Our 65-year history is built on a reputation of quality and integrity, both of our people and our weld. In our line of work, safety and quality are inseparable. You cannot have one and not the other. Pipeliners 798 provides the highest quality weld in the nation by requiring rigorous training for all its pipeline welders. Our quality speaks for itself, with our welders consistently performing to the highest of industry standards.
Safety
Nothing is of greater importance than your safety and the safety of your family when it comes to pipeline construction and welding in your community. Pipeliners 798 goes above and beyond to not just adhere to all safety requirements, but to enforce the best practices in pipeline and workplace safety. We are the ones literally “in the trenches,” so when we discuss pipeline safety, it is personal to our welders and their families.
A 2013 Fraser Institute study conclusively showed pipelines to be the safest method of oil and natural gas transportation, especially compared to rail and above ground methods. It is our commitment to keep that fact true.
Environmental and Community Stewardship
The environmental concerns raised by many Americans regarding oil and gas are very important to us and Pipeliners 798 works diligently to lessen its environmental impact. Pipeliners 798 has a strong track record of weld integrity, which is critical in preventing any environmental hazards.
All Pipeliners 798 welders take part in an environment orientation for every project that reviews the environmental impact of that specific project and how to minimize their impact. These orientations include training on the landscape, habitat and even the wildlife near the project.
When working on a pipeline project, it is always our desire to become valued partners within the community. It is our hope that if you see the Pipeliners 798 logo in the community, you will know that worker genuinely cares about the work they do and about you and your family.
Our Ladies of 798 group, which is made up primarily of the spouses of our welders, makes it a point to leave a town or community better than when they arrived. This includes volunteering at local agencies and helping with fundraisers for local charities and schools.
Worker Protection
It is a top priority for our organization to ensure our workers receive a fair wage, worksite protection and good benefits, including retirement. It is very important to us that our workers are safe when welding any pipe, so when you see our people on a job you can rest assured we have taken every measure to ensure the safety of both our welders and you as members of the community.
We invested a lot of money into a high-tech training center to create good union craftsman to work on our nation’s pipeline infrastructure. We are very conscious of buying American made products, which gives other working Americans a chance to better themselves.
